Per la ristrutturazione del complesso industriale, ex sede delle Cantine Todesca a Mattarello, periferia sud di Trento, e la sua trasformazione nella nuova sede di una società di ingegneria si è scelto di mantenere i volumi esistenti: un edifico per uffici, un capannone con volta a botte, e un corpo di connessione tra i due blocchi. La palazzina uffici, costruita nel 1987, esternamente ha mantenuto le sue forme originarie. L’intervento di maquillage, attuato con una pittura metamerica, ha messo in evidenza le numerose sfaccettature della superficie costruita con blocchi prefabbricati, sui cui serramenti è stato inserito un sistema di brise-soleil orientabili. Unica aggiunta è il corpo vetrato in aggetto della sala riunioni. La facciata a ovest del capannone è realizzata con un sistema di ampie campiture vetrate, strutturate secondo la scansione della struttura interna. I grandi serramenti rivolti a ovest hanno un’ulteriore protezione a lamelle meccanizzate che fungono da filtro, riducendo l’impatto dell’irraggiamento solare. La parete a sud del corpo uffici, quella a nord del capannone con le sue bolle vetrate e il corpo di connessione delimitano il nuovo cortile d’ingresso. Nel piccolo volume centrale, pensato come filtro tra i due blocchi, è stata collocata la reception. Gli spazi interni sono stati completamente ridisegnati. Il volume del capannone è stato pensato come un open-space, ripartito da divisori realizzati con blocchi di cemento alleggerito a vista che consentono da ogni postazione la vista della volta a botte, rivestita con listelli di legno. Nel lato est, in una estensione del capannone trovano posto gli uffici degli ingegneri senior. Dopo aver progettato gli uffici di SWS, al nostro team è stata affidata la ristrutturazione della proprietà confinante a sud, un’altra area industriale dismessa, diventata la sede del Nuovo Centro Ricerche FIAT.

The project for the renovation of the industrial complex in Mattarello (Trento), old headquarters of the wine industry Cantine Todesca, envisaged the preservation of all the existing volumes: an office block, a barrel vaulted warehouse, and a connexion volume in between. Built in 1987, the outside of the office block maintained its original shape. With the application of metameric paint, the make-up intervention highlighted the multiple facets of the surface made of prefabricated blocks; an adjustable brise-soleil system has been mounted on the existing windows. The only addition is the overhanging glass body of the meeting room. According to the new office’s layout, a large glazed and partitioned surface covers the warehouse’s west façade. The large west-facing windows have additional protection: a sunshade system reducing the impact of solar radiation. The new entrance’s courtyard is defined by the south wall of the office block, the north warehouse’s wall with its glass bubbles and the connecting building itself. Designed as a filter between the two blocks, the small central volume hosts the reception; the interior spaces have been redesigned completely. The volume of the shed was conceived as a unique open-space. It is divided by partitions made with lightweight concrete blocks that allow the view of the barrel vault, covered with wooden slats, from any position. On the east side, the offices of the senior engineers are located in an extension of the shed. After designing SWS’s offices our team was involved in the renovation of the southern bordering property, another dismantled industrial area, which became the FIAT New Research Centre offices.
